Inspired by the glorious out-of-tune cacophony of the infamous Friday night Trainwreck jam on Orcas Island, I recorded this initially with a "good" mandolin, in tune....
It wasn't until I tried a "bad" mando out of tune that it came to life, ala the famous blues mandolinist Yank Rachel....
That's Tim saying "it's never the same" at the end of the tune--I forgot tohit "record" the first time around...
Recorded entirely with old RCA ribbon mics and Ampex tube preamps--I need all the authenticity I can get....
